Photos progress Moto Guzzi sidecar 3

Here shown are the first spionage pictures and the first testrit from the completely rebuilt Guzzi sidecar. Find the differences...The engine sound very well again, the testteam wouldn't say a word about the steering qualities. The new?!? passenger looks a bit insecure, but that will quickly be improved we assume..

For the visitors who are paying attention, brakes and gearing lever have been changed position again and the second front brake has been changed with an original Lockheed. Placing an oil cooler unit the face is looking quit mean now! Now alle we have to do is wait for the new color...

Kees van der Starre of Startwin Motorcycles in Loenen, Netherlands did a good job on the complete exhaust system of the Moto Guzzi sidecar outfit. And now we hope a lot of horses and little noise will come out the end...

Shown are the assembled engine, the mounted left carburator, allowing Henks knees to fit in as well, changed brake from right to left side and gearing from left to right side and the extra brakes on the front wheel disc as the emergency brake, so the original brake can be included in the integral braking system.

Episode 3 in the series ducside racing ahead

Episode 2 (BIG NEWS!!) also resulted in many reactions. We fooled the concurrence a great deal in episode 1, in which we revealed our plans to race a 999LCR. Although, this apears quiet a chalange to us as well, we are gonna concentrate on keeping this lovely Guzzi on the track. Underneath we published some of our fans and concurrence reactions:

Now you finally came to your senses

There is no better choice then the guzzi engine!! they never
break down, well almost never.

Hallo, this is good news, fire it up with us.

We more or less expected the new outfit to be carrying an italian engine, but nonetheless the Guzzi came as a big surprise to us.

I'm not sure I can fit those duc crankcases in a Guzzi engine???

On the track..........I sure hope it won't be off the track.
I rather see you on a classic outfit then on an LCR.
And Clara take care of your head the first times.
Annie knows more about this. hihhihihihi.

You sure scared us with those "airplane " plans.
What a cool Guzzi . And we know what these machines are capable of (Bremerhafen).
Anyway we still can be drinking beers together,  after the classic races.

Hmmm, does this mean Jarno is gonna donate his guzzi engine for the sake of sidecar racing????

Nice engine.. oh no you're probably not gonna mount this one.  Anyway left sided outfit, small wheels, good brakes, strong frameworks, all you have to find now is a good driver and dito passenger and then the good results will follow. Ha ha ha, just kidding, you'll be fine.

Will it be a  Moto Guzzi, or will it be a Ducati?

We'd like to thank everybody for their positive reactions (or negative reactions that we nevertheless interpreted as being meant in a possitive manner) . In the mean time we've collected the outfit and are busy implementing a few minor improvements before the first race of 2007. Following a few pics to show our progress so far:

Of course we'll continue to race an Italian 90º V-two based engine! With the cylinders pointing sideways this time. The amount of cc's, valves, gears and wheels we'll keep to ourselves, in order to maintain our position towards the concurrence. And if the results don't show what we're expecting, we can always put on our last secret wapon...

As soon as we get our first test results, we'll be happy to come back to you.

Regards, the Moto Guzzi Sidecar Racing Team!!

Episode 2 in the series ducside racing ahead

The ducside team has been very busy lately. A lot of reactions have reached us on episode 1, both disappointed as emotional ones… Therefore we reconsidered leaving the classics.  We do enjoy having a couple of beers with the colleagues afterwards and going to bed early (10 p.m. according to Frank) is not really Clara’s or my hobby. So, after a couple of secret meetings, we’re ready to reveal our plans for next season.

We thought of the following: the engine is turned by 90 degrees and the chair by 180 (and hopefully the complete outfit on the track not by 360). The wheels have been washed on very high temperatures, so they shrinked in diameter, but also are a bit wider then we’re used to. So here it is, our complete new challenge!!

Thanks to Gerald de Haas we were able to put our hands on this extraordinary outfit from Piet Bremer (Piet developed this sidecar himself and raced it in 1977 with his sister as a passenger). Thanks to having a lovely lady in the chair and that we are going to race the outfir.

Will we be able to enter the HMV races like Jurrie and John Medema with this sidecar “with history”? (During the centennial Egbert Streuer raced it in Assen).

Well, we’ll see where it all ends. We will be busy working on it, as you can see I don’t fit in the foot rests yet and Clara needs some changes as well. So don’t worry Frank & Maja and Kobus & Sam. We’re not gone yet, neither on the track or to have a laugh afterwards.

Here some more pictures of the pretty outfit. Let us know what you think.

To be continued.

Bye bye, the ducside team

P.S. The 999LCR plans have been put in the frigde for now, but you never know…

Episode 1 in the series ducside racing ahead

There’s gonna be big changes in de Ducside team shortly!

Long conversations between Henk and Clara have resulted in a different plan. Due to a lot of bad luck with the Ducati bevel driven engines and a constant lack of power, it’s time for a change.

In order to concur Weslake, BScAti and BMW (who can break down too!) a different tactic is chosen. The first plans we about to build a small wheels based sitter. 18” wheels have been tried unwillingly be myself and Jarno once (Jehonville, 2002). Although the steering is very easy, it doesn’t fit a Ducati engine, for these are too young.

But then we come up with a different idea, after we’ve pointed down be the DSRA to race in Assen (we still think it should be possible after Eemshaven, very good ride there. Thanx again Jaap and Harry for lobbying for us!). It was a shame we couldn’t change the bevel for a 999R. They would have noticed us then.

But it brought us to the idea to use our licence to try and do the ONK competition with an LCR, but using a Ducati 999R engine, or similar.

The rest of the team could only frown and nod their heads. Anyway, for 98% we’re sure this should be it. The deadline’s the 30th of October, but big news can be expected earlyer then that. We’ll keep you informed. Or rather, give us your reaction and ideas...

 Bye now, the Ducside Team
